U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge
Robert D. Martin was presented
with the Judge William L. Norton Jr.
Judicial Excellence Award during the
National Conference of Bankruptcy
Judges’ (NCBJ) annual conference
in October in Tampa, Florida. The
award is presented each year by the
American Bankruptcy Institute and
Thomson Reuters to recognize a
current or former bankruptcy judge for
service, achievement, and leadership
throughout his or her career. Martin,
chief bankruptcy judge for the Western
District of Wisconsin, was appointed
as a bankruptcy referee just before
passage of the Bankruptcy Reform
Act of 1978 and has served ever since,
currently as a judge recalled to service.
He is a past NCBJ president, a charter
member of the American College of
Bankruptcy, a conferee in the National
Bankruptcy Conference, and a faculty
member with the TMA Certified
